Mike Dillard invented the mechanic that half of network marketing’s “attraction marketing” funnels still run today: the funded proposal. In 2005 he self-published a 55-page booklet, Magnetic Sponsoring, printed at Kinko’s for $1.50 a copy, sold it for $39, paid affiliates a flat $20 on a 365-day last-click cookie, and enrolled every buyer free into the same funnel system that had just sold to them — turning 15,000 marketers into an unpaid distribution army and paying out $2.0-2.2 million in commissions in 2009 alone VERIFIED — archived affiliate policy posts. He retired from network marketing “for good” in 2010, ran The Elevation Group into a September 18, 2012 CFTC consent order for registration violations — not fraud — tied to a business partner’s forex scheme VERIFIED — CFTC Release 6353-12, then lost six to seven years to toxic mold and mercury poisoning starting June 13, 2018, watching his net worth fall to $6,000 while still honoring over $1 million in customer refunds VERIFIED — his own written and spoken accounts.
He re-entered in 2025 as a much smaller kind of operator: CLEAR Algo™ + Inner Circle, a $47/month TradingView-indicator subscription sold through one Meta-ads-to-VSL funnel, with no affiliate program of his own — the single most telling structural fact in this file, for the man who built the industry’s most famous affiliate army VERIFIED — GoHighLevel funnel configs all carry “affiliateId”: -1. The business is real — daily-refreshed ad creative, a Hyros attribution install, a claimed 1,500+ Inner Circle members — but it is roughly 1/30th the scale of the “$500 grand a month” he says he once made, and every current volume number is self-reported on his own checkout page. [self-reported / UNKNOWN]
The Funded Proposal [PARTIALLY REPLICABLE]. Dillard’s 2005 insight was a financial mechanic dressed as a philosophy: the generic problem (“I can’t recruit”) had a far bigger market than his own specific MLM opportunity, so he sold a $39 fix for it, let that sale pay for the ad clicks that found the buyer, and used the purchase itself as a pre-qualifier — anyone who paid to fix their recruiting was a downline prospect worth ten times a free lead. The book was never the business; it was the ad that turned a profit. He layered on a flat $20 affiliate commission on a 365-day last-click cookie (which built a 15,000-marketer distribution army), automatic free enrollment of every buyer into the same funnel system (which converted every customer into a seller), and copy honest enough about his own failures that a skeptical audience believed the numbers VERIFIED — Wayback captures, 2006-2008. The mechanic is fully replicable today; the conditions that made it an arbitrage — a virgin AdWords auction, zero internet-marketing training anywhere in the category, a term nobody had coined — are gone for good.
His 2026 edge is thinner and mostly reputational. He has no traffic advantage (he buys Meta and Udimi solo ads like a beginner), no distribution advantage (82K Facebook followers deliver 55 reactions), and no product moat (a TradingView indicator is a script). What he still has is twenty-one years of accumulated name-trust plus a collapse story nobody can fake — a documented mold score of 20,936 against a 0-5 safe range, a net worth that fell to $6,000, and a million-dollar refund history he honored while going broke — which is why a $47/month subscription converts on cold traffic for him and would not for a stranger with the identical indicator VERIFIED / self-reported. It is fragile because it is depreciating: the podcast that maintained it has been dark since April 2021, and his follower counts are legacy assets from the 2010s, not a live audience. What he still runs that’s genuinely worth copying, and owes nothing to his fame, is the conversion architecture itself — a gated demo, a buy button hidden until roughly the halfway mark of a 20-minute VSL, an evergreen per-visitor deadline with a real expired-price fallback page, a guarantee stated as a return multiple rather than a refund, and two one-click upsells at close to 80% off the anchor. VERIFIED — live funnel, clearalgo.ai
1999–2005 — Broke, waiting tables into his mid-20s after six years failing across “at least 12 different companies” in network marketing; self-teaches copywriting from Gary Halbert, Dan Kennedy and John Carlton, learns early Google AdWords, and becomes the first person to build an MLM downline substantially online. [self-reported]
2005 — Self-publishes Magnetic Sponsoring at Kinko’s for $1.50 a copy, coins the term “attraction marketing,” and launches the funded-proposal machine at an introductory $29.95 — the ancestor of most attraction-marketing funnels built since. VERIFIED / self-reported
2009 — Peak of the machine: $2.0–2.2 million paid out in affiliate commissions in a single year to roughly 15,000 affiliates on the $20-flat, 365-day-cookie terms. VERIFIED — archived affiliate policy posts
2010 — Retires from network marketing “for good”; launches The Elevation Group, which pulls in 8,600 members and $3.2 million in its first seven days. VERIFIED
Sept 18, 2012 — A CFTC consent order is entered against Michael Dillard and Elevation Group, Inc. for registration violations — soliciting forex orders as an unregistered Introducing Broker/Associated Person — in connection with a business partner’s ProphetMax/IIC forex fraud that took at least $53 million from 960+ clients; Dillard himself was not charged with fraud. Elevation Group lost roughly 90% of its revenue within a month. The matter is fully resolved and now fourteen years closed. VERIFIED — CFTC Release 6353-12
2014/15 — Launches the Self-Made Man podcast around the same period Tim Erway, per Ferny Ceballos’s account, buys Dillard out of Magnetic Sponsoring as Dillard steps away from network marketing entirely; Dillard has never himself confirmed a sale, named a buyer, or stated a price. CORROBORATED / sale price UNKNOWN
June 13, 2018 – Apr 2021 — Health collapse: a flooded Austin building leaves him with toxic mold poisoning (a Penicillium score of 20,936 against a 0–5 safe range) and undiagnosed mercury and lead exposure, triggering years of sleeplessness and early-Parkinson’s tremors; net worth falls to $6,000, partly from honoring over $1 million in customer refunds; the podcast goes dark for good on April 2, 2021 with an episode titled “I’m Taking A Break.” Full recovery, by his own account, doesn’t arrive until 2025. VERIFIED — his own written and spoken accounts
2025–2026 — Re-entry: launches CLEAR Algo™ + Inner Circle at $47/mo, restarts weekly publishing on beehiiv, buys Meta traffic daily, and repositions Richer Every Day from former front-end to a $37 order-path upsell — claiming 1,500+ Inner Circle members on a business roughly 1/30th his self-reported peak scale. VERIFIED / claimed membership self-reported

Lead magnet to first dollar to continuity — the ladder as walked, not as advertised.
The archived Magnetic Sponsoring funnel, step by step [all VERIFIED against Wayback captures]. (1) Ad — AdWords and affiliate classifieds carrying "Only Suckers Buy Leads! Stop Wasting Time And Money On Leads And Cold Calling. See How." and "MLM Recruiting Made Easy — How a 26 Year Old Waiter Built a $250,000 MLM Biz in 4 Months" (Fast Start Guide, archived 2006-06-14). (2) Squeeze — the long-form letter at /magneticletter.htm opening on "Prospecting Sucks!", with the opt-in at the foot: "Get Your Free 7-Day Magnetic Sponsoring Video Boot Camp" (archived 2008-01-09). (3) Boot camp — one content video per day, each ending in the same CTA; Day 1 survives intact as "How To Get Invited: Why Cold Prospecting Methods Are Dead, And What To Do Now…" with an embedded customer case study (archived 2010-10-11). (4) Order — "$39.00" for the manual plus a "Behind Closed Doors" audio interview, the "Essential Reports" and "MLM Domain Secrets"; free US Priority shipping, $8 international, 90-day 100% money-back guarantee, physical only. (5) Buyer becomes seller — free lifetime access to the $19.95/mo Magnetic Sponsoring 3.0 funded-proposal system, with the buyer's leads auto-loaded into the house newsletter: "Magnetic Sponsoring does not come with a user controlled autoresponder, but all contacts are placed into the Magnetic Sponsoring Newsletter which markets our products for you automatically." (6) Ladder — Building On A Budget $29.95 → Black Belt Recruiting $147/$97 → MLM Traffic Formula $197 then $997 (or 2×$527) → The Copywriter's Guild $197 → Inner Circle newsletter $29.95/mo → live events at $797–$1,497. (7) Back end — the capture3.htm second squeeze into the primary opportunity.
The current funnel is architecturally simpler and strategically weaker. One product, one price ladder, two $37 bumps, no continuity above $47/mo, no high ticket, no application funnel, no coaching. Where 2008-Dillard turned every buyer into a distributor, 2026-Dillard turns every buyer into a subscriber and stops. He has removed the flywheel from his own invention.
Price integrity across the current estate is genuinely broken. "The Inner Circle" is simultaneously $10/mo (selfmademan.com), $37/mo (richereveryday.com upsell), $47/mo (clearalgo.ai discount tier), $67/mo (expired tier copy), and $97/mo (list) — and /expired-checkout contradicts itself, with copy promising "$67/Mo or $597/Yr" above line items charging $97 and $997. A prospect with two tabs open sees a 10x spread on the same membership VERIFIED. Reported "$2,000 lifetime" pricing does not exist on any live checkout — treat that intake item as stale.
The conversion architecture is textbook and worth copying wholesale: email-gated demo, delayed buy button at ~50% of runtime, evergreen per-visitor deadline with a genuine expired-price fallback page, price anchored at list and discounted "for life," a guarantee stated as a multiple rather than a refund ("If you don't see how the CLEAR Algo™ and Inner Circle™ can help you save or make at least 10X more than its price over the next 30 days, I'll send you a full refund"), and two one-click upsells at 79% off the anchor.
Everything above is public behavior you can go and verify yourself. What follows is the replication kit — how Mike talks, what Mike actually runs, and the routine that makes it repeat. You can see its shape here. The instructions are in the full dossier.
Fingerprinted from Mike's own page source, not copied off a recommendations page. Those two lists disagree more often than you would think.
| Cadence | What happens | Who runs it | Measured on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Daily | Operator (non-delegable — it is the product) | Alert latency; % of alerts issued before the move | |
| 2–3×/week | Operator (talent) + editor (VA) | New creative shipped/week; % of spend on creative <30 days old | |
| Weekly | Operator (AI-assisted drafting; voice is the moat) | Open rate, click rate to clearalgo.ai, unsubscribes | |
| Weekly | Operator | Live attendance %; replay views; churn of attendees vs non-attendees | |
| Weekly | Operator + bookkeeper (VA) | Net MRR movement; refund % of new orders; LTV:CAC | |
| Monthly | VA | New testimonials captured; SERP position for "Mike Dillard reviews/scam" | |
| Monthly | Operator + booker (VA) | Appearances booked; referral traffic and opt-ins attributed | |
| Quarterly | Operator | Pages with contradictory pricing (currently: many); dead funnels still pixeled |
Count the rows. 9 moves on a fixed cadence, each one already assigned to a person, a VA or an AI, each one carrying the number it lives or dies by.
That is not advice. That is a schedule with names on it.
The covered column is the instruction - what actually happens in that slot. Voice works the same way: you can read what each pattern is about, not the pattern itself. So does the stack.
Why hold it back? Because that is the product, and pretending otherwise would insult you.
Bottom line - the free half tells you where Mike shows up. The paid half tells you what to say when you get there, what to run it on, and what to do every day so it compounds.
Think about that. Then decide.
